The Best Baked Potato Slices

Updated: Aug 29, 2020

I've always loved potatoes, and a few years ago, when my Grandma made us baked potato slices, I instantly wanted to create my own recipe, with the same delicious taste, and most of the same ingredients. This recipe took a few tries for me to perfect, but once I did, I knew I had a winner!

Here are some visual steps, if that makes it easier for you! To see the amounts, and the full recipe, it's down towards the bottom of the page. I just included a few visual steps, if that helps anyone! I hope you all enjoy!

Cut the potatoes into thin slices

It's important to cut these pretty thin. If they are too thick, they will take a long time to cook all the way through. Try to cut them around half a centimeter. Remember, you'd rather cut them a bit too thin than too thick.

Lay them onto a baking sheet covered in tin-foil

If you don't have enough room on your baking sheet, you can lay the thinner potatoes on top of the others.

Drizzle on the olive oil

One of the trickiest parts for me, when I was figuring out the amounts of this recipe, was deciding the right amounts for the oil. At first, I added too much oil, to the point where it was kind of soggy. Finally, I found the right amount of oil to use so that it crisps up easily, and it doesn't take a long time to cook.

Cook and season!

Cover these potatoes with another wrap of tinfoil, slide into the oven, and bake about 26 minutes. It takes around 26 minutes to soften up, but if you want these crispier, you can bake them according to your desired time. Just make sure not to burn them! To season them, just sprinkle on a pinch of salt and a pinch of pepper. Also, cut up 2-3 basil leaves and sprinkle over the potatoes!

And now... for the recipe!
